Kerala tops in governance, Karnataka 4th, says report

Bengaluru, 23 July 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Kerala stands as the best-governed state in the country and Karnataka is in the fourth position, said the Public Affairs Index 2018 released by the think tank Public Affairs Centre (PAC) here. "Kerala has topped the Public Affairs Index (PAI) for 2018 as the best-governed state for the third consecutive year since 2016 among large states," said Bengaluru-based PAC at an event in the city on Saturday evening to release its third annual PAI. Thirteen-year-old dies after classmate stabs him during fight

Kasargod, 06 Aug 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: A trivial fight between two thirteen-year-old classmates ended in a murder at Bandyodu Mutta in Kumbla Police station limits. The deceased is Mohammed Midlaj, son of Yousif, a resident of Adka in Bandyodu. Reportedly, the incident took place around 8:15 am on Sunday. It is said that Midlaj and his classmate were involved in a silly fight over some unknown reason and during the course of the fight his classmate pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed him. Though the locals rushed Midlaj to a private hospital, he couldn't be saved. 80 electric buses to hit Bengaluru roads by Oct

Bengaluru, 09 Aug 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Come October, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will operate 80 electric buses, including 60 A/C and 20 non-A/C midibuses in the city. According to sources at the BMTC, this scheme is being implemented in partnership with the union government. The central government is releasing Rs.1 crore as a subsidy for the A/C buses and Rs. 73 lakhs for the non-A/C midibuses. "Under the scheme, BMTC will hire electric buses from a Hyderabad based company. Both the corporation and the company will have joint ownership of these buses. The central government will release Rs.74.60 crores as the final subsidy amount for the scheme," said sources. "The BMTC will set up a charging centre at Surya city bus depot.
