Farmer takes to twitter, asks PM Narendra Modi to help energise his borewell

Bengaluru, 09 Dec 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Claiming lack of response from the government to his pleas,  a 65- year old drought-hit farmer, Topanna Halli from the  hamlet of Muttalageri in Badami taluk , Bagalkot district, has now tweeted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to help him get the power he needs to operate the borewell sunk under the Ganga Kalyan scheme in his fields. Mr Topanna, who says he received no response to  a petition to former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has in his tweet 'Save farmer,' also appealed to him not to ignore the welfare of farmers. Basavanbagewadi: Lorry collides with tourist bus; Many students injured

Vijayapura, 13 Dec 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Many students and lorry driver were injured in a collision between a school bus and a lorry on last night near Muttagi Cross in Basavanbagewadi taluk. Students from Kalaburgi district were on tour to Koodal Sangam. The incident occurred when they were proceeding towards Vijayapura after visiting Alamatti.  The truck crossed the road divider and crashed with the bus when the driver of the goods vehicle lost control. Indian students rushing abroad to study medicine, reveals RTI

Bengaluru, 20 Dec 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: There has been an increase in the number of students willing to study medicine abroad, reveals the reply to an RTI query. The RTI query was sent to the Medical Council of India (MCI) in October 2018 and the reply reveals that the number of students who applied for the mandatory eligibility certificate from MCI to study abroad almost doubled in 2017-18 as compared to 2016-17. As per RTI no. MCI- 201 (E-RTI)/ 2018- Eligi./, the number of applications received was18,383 in 2017-18 as against 10,555 in 2016-17.
