Mangaluru: Prime Minister Modi dedicates several projects worth Rs 3,800 crores at mega event

Mangaluru, 03 Sep 2022 [Fik/News Sources]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 2, Friday inaugurated and laid foundations for as many as eight projects worth Rs 3,800 crores at the Gold Finch City Grounds at Bangrakulur. He also symbolically launched the distribution of Kisan Credit Cards to the beneficiaries.

In his address, the Prime Minister said the Ayushman Bharat Scheme has helped 4 crore poor people of the nation to avail medical treatment and added that the Scheme has over 30 lakh beneficiaries in Karnataka.

He said his government always stands for the  welfare of the economically backward sections of the society. It is indeed a matter of pride that small farmers, small traders, fishermen and even streetside vendors are benefitting from the development which India is witnessing, the Prime Minister said.

During the past eight years over 3 crore houses have been constructed for the poor in the nation, while over 8 lakh houses have been sanctioned in Karnataka, he said. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission over 6 crore households have been provided piped water connection in just three years, the Prime Minister said and added that in Karnataka for the first time piped water connection has been provided to over 30 lakh rural households.

Under the Mudra scheme over 20 lakh businessmen have been provided loans, the Prime Minister said and elaborated upon the programmes and schemes of his government.

Union Minister Sarbanand Sonowal honoured the Prime Minister with a garland, Peta and idol of Udupi Lord Krishna. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel presented a jasmine garland to the Prime Minister while DK District in-charge Minister Sunil Kumar gifted a Parashurama idol to Modi.

State Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, Union Ministers Prahlad Joshi, Shobha Karandlaje, Hardeep Sing Puri, Sripad Yasso Naik and Shanthanu Thakur were present among others.

A project worth over Rs 280 crore for mechanisation of Berth No. 14 for handling containers and other cargo undertaken by the New Mangalore Port Authority, Anagha Refinery of NMPT, BS VI Upgradation Project and Sea Water Desalination Plant, worth Rs 1,830 crore and Rs 680 crore respectively of MRPL were inaugurated. The Prime Minister also laid foundation for fisheries port development project at Kulai and Sagaramala Project
