NIA arrests Muslim youth over alleged links with ISIS, family refutes charges

New Delhi, 08 Aug 2022 [Fik/News Sources]: India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday arrested a Muslim youth from South Delhi’s Batla House neighbourhood alleging that he was an “active member” of ISIS and was collecting funds from different countries and sending them to the terror group in Syria using cryptocurrency.

The accused, Mohsin Alam, is a first-year engineering student at Jamia Millia Islamia.

His family rubbished the charges labelled against him. Speaking to NDTV, his sister said, “The allegations are totally false, we will challenge them in court.”

“If he was raising funds, he should have had lots of money. The day before yesterday, he messaged me to ask for ₹ 4,000 to do a coding course,” she added.

She further said that Alam was used to do social service. During the Covid lockdown, he collected donations and distributed food grains among the poor.
