Public shocked by sudden renaming of Tengangundi Beach: Demand for restoration of old name gained momentum

Bhatkal, 29 June 2022 [Fik/News Sources]: The sudden renaming of Tengangundi Beach has taken the people by surprise. Today, the people here handed over a memorandum to the PDO of Heble Gram Panchayat and demanded that the name of Tengangundi Coast be restored as Tengangundi Coast.

On this occasion, General Secretary of Jamaat-e-Muslimeen Tengangundi, Mr. Iqbal Bengali said that we have been living in Tengangundi for years and people know this beach as Tengangundi Beach. Therefore, we demand to change its name. Don't try to. "Currently, we have brought this matter to the notice of the KPDO through a memorandum," he added. If we are not listened to, we will take our case to the Deputy Commissioner and if necessary, we will go to Bangalore.

Maulana Saud Nadvi, Maulana Ishaq Nadvi, Maulana Ismail Nadvi, Maulana Fazlullah Nadvi, Muhammad Ghous Bengali, Muhammad Ayub Dangi, Iqbal Potkar and a large number of people were present on the occasion.

It may be recalled that yesterday SDPI had also submitted a memorandum demanding restoration of the old name.
