Hijab row : 24 students of Uppinangady College suspended for 7 days

Mangaluru, 07 June 2022 [Fik/News Sources]: As many as 24 students were banned  from attending classes for a period of seven days for violating rules by wearing Hijab to classes at the Uppinangady Government  First Grade College.

The Government has made uniforms mandatory for schools and colleges and has made it clear that Hijab is not allowed in classrooms.

Though many Muslim girls have been attending classes by adhering to rules, a few have been insisting that they be allowed to wear Hijab in classrooms.

It is learnt, many have even applied for transfer certificates to seek admissions to colleges which permit Hijab.
