Demand for protection of Gyan Vapi Mosque, SDPI protest in Bhatkal

Bhatkal, 18 May 2022 [Fik/News Sources]: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has strongly objected to a Varanasi court order to protect and seal part of the Gyan Vapi Mosque in Varanasi, thwarting conspiracies against the Gyan Vapi Mosque. 

Protests were held across the country on May 17 under the slogan "Enforce the Place of Worship Act 1991". In view of this, the Bhatkal unit of SDPI also lodged a protest today and asked why the district court had pronounced its verdict even before the completion of the survey. He said that the verdict was supposed to be announced on May 17 but what happened that this verdict was announced on May 16. 

In the protests that took place across the country, the SDPI speakers said in their address that The court's ruling is a blatant violation of the Places of Worship Act, 1991, which states that the religious status quo in India will remain the same as it was on August 15, 1947. The law also states that The sanctuary of the sect will not be converted into a separate sect or section. Controversy over the Giani Vapi Mosque is nothing new. It is part of the RSS's agenda to destroy and seize religious monuments and other religious sites, especially historical monuments built and owned by Muslims. The RSS Singh Parivar has long claimed that it has compiled a list of 3,000 mosques to be demolished or restored across the country. Gyan Vapi is the second mosque in this list, Babri Mosque was the first. The demolition of Babri Masjid was carried out in the same manner as in the case of Gyan Vapi Masjid. 

The Social Democratic Party of India, with the support of the secular people of the country, will strongly oppose any such move to demolish mosques and other religious places and destroy law and order in the country. Since the far-right Hindutva fascists came to power in 2014, the country's constitution has been set aside and Muslims are being persecuted day in and day out.
