Maulana Dr. Akram Nadvi addresses to the scholars and elders of Bhatkal

Bhatkal, 22 Mar 2022 [Fik/News Sources]: In the age you are in, you should adapt your da'wah style to the conditions of that time and perform scholarly and da'wah services while cooperating with each other. This was stated by the famous religious scholar and Maulana Dr. Akram Nadvi from Oxford University was addressing later scholars and elders at the Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi Islamic Academy Bhatkal. 

Maulana, while talking about different styles of da'wah in the light of Holy Quran and Ahadith, said that the incidents of predecessors and famous Imams are before us. We also have their style of invitation. In almost every age, almost everyone tried to catch the pulse of their time and worked in the way that work should have been done. Maulana termed the answers to the questions raised against Islam in the present era as the most important need of the present age and said that we have the source of the Holy Quran and the hadiths of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). It is not possible to change this in any case, but the answers to the times have to be given in a modern to modern style by considering these two things. For this we need maturity in science. In his address, Maulana also called for understanding the situation and preparing for it ahead of time. He said that unless we understand the situation of the time, our invitation cannot be effective but we have to think ahead of time. We must have a clear plan for the future. That is why there should be education in madrassas according to time and circumstances. The tragedy here is that the madrassas have become like museums, the way things are kept in the museum and no change is possible in it, similarly our madrassas are taught in the same style as in the ancient style. 

Time and circumstances are not taken into account. As a result, they are not able to get the people they need from these madrassas. The main reason is that we have not trained them in a modern way. They do not have the strength to cope with the times. Maulana further said that all the talents cannot be gathered in one place but the field in which he is working should be encouraged and he should be given opportunities to move forward. Comparing Bhatkal with Bukhari, he said that The most important reason why Bukhari was discussed in the field of knowledge was that trade caravans from different countries used to come and meet there, due to which the people there were familiar with different cultures as well as different styles of education. Due to the fact that the people of Bhatkal are settled on the coast, trade caravans may also land here and have the opportunity to learn a lot from them. Secondly, Maulana said that the merchants are always trying to figure out how to sell their goods and for this he is looking for different ways. Tak said that it needs to be generalized in different areas. The manner in which the da'wah work is being done here is commendable and admirable. Maulana also read the document and briefly shed light on the situation of various narrators.

Before Maulana's address, Founder and General Secretary Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Nadvi, while introducing Maulana, said that Maulana belongs to our city. This is the first visit of Maulana but despite this Maulana is already familiar with the people and activities here. Hazrat Maulana Abdul Bari Sahib Nadvi (may Allah have mercy on him) and Maulana Abdul Samad Qazi are among the companions of Nadvi. He was intelligent from his student days. He also served as a teacher in Nadwa. Meanwhile, when it came to sending him to England for da'wah work, the eyes of Hazrat Maulana Ali Mian Nadvi (may Allah have mercy on him) were on Maulana and the manner in which he carried out his da'wah responsibilities after reaching there is obvious. It lived up to Maulana's expectations. Maulana Ilyas Nadvi said that women also play an important role in the dissemination of theology in a way that is not usually noticed but Maulana Dr. Akram Nadvi has written a huge book in 47 volumes which only discusses the narrators.
