Popular Front cautious about attempts to create violence by Hindutva forces in country

New Delhi, 04 Dec 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: Popular Front of India Chairman O.M.A. Salam in a statement has expressed serious concerns about various reports that put together points to the plan of Hindutva communal forces to unleash violence in different parts of the country. News items appearing in national and regional media indicate that Sangh Parivar elements have not only intensified their hate and threat campaigns against Muslims and other minorities, but they are also in hectic preparations for acts of violence.

At the time of the admission of a petition for converting Shahi EidGhah Masjid situated in Mathura into a temple by the local court, a Hindutva outfit had declared that idol will be placed in the Masjid on 6th December, the day of demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992. The selection of this date itself uncover the calculated intention to capture Masjids in Varanasi and Mathura under false claims as they have done in the case of the Masjid in Ayodhya.  The ongoing attempts in the case of historically important Varanasi and Mathura Masjids remind us of the very chronology of events that led to the demolition of Babri Masjid and the construction of Ram Mandir on the same site. Once the declaration of idol installation on December 6 in Shahi EidGhah Masjid was withdrawn for whatever reason, the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has categorically stated that the same Masjid will be converted into Krishna Temple. All these are happening in spite of the fact that the governments are duty-bound to protect the status quo of all existing Masjids as per the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991. O.M.A. Salam has requested the judiciary for proactive interventions in protecting all Muslim places of worship as per the above law.

On the eve of elections to a few state assemblies like UP and Punjab, the country is witnessing another round of anti-Muslim propaganda and threats to offering Namaz and Azan by Muslims in certain places. The obstructions created continuously by Hindutva groups including BJP in offering Juma prayers in Gurgaon and the collusion of administration and Police with them are also to be viewed as part of a larger communal agenda.

Simultaneously from southern states like Kerala, there are frequent reports about RSS assemblies in which Muslims are openly threatened of attack and elimination. Recent reports about RSS in southern states indulged in weapon training and explosive making are also alarming. But the police is not seen curbing such unlawful acts and booking those involved in such incidents. Unfortunately, the secular parties that have influence in southern states and their governments by ignoring the RSS attempt to create violence are indirectly helping their agenda.  Moreover, some parties are even parroting certain false propaganda of RSS against Muslims by the misinterpretation and misrepresentation of Islamic terms like Jihad and Halal.

O.M.A. Salam has urged the state governments, administration and police to realise the gravity of the situation and take every step to maintain law and order and to curb communal fascist attempts to create chaos and conflicts in the society. The strategy of fascist forces is to overpower others by creating fear among them.  The only viable way to harmony and peace in society is not to succumb to fascist threats and remain steadfast in the path of justice and rights.  He has appealed to justice and peace-loving people belonging to all communities to be vigilant about attempts to create communal divisions and to defeat jointly all such fascist plans.
