New Delhi, 28 July 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi asserted on Wednesday that the opposition parties do not want to compromise on the issues of inflation, Pegasus, and farmers’ protest and want discussion over these matters in Parliament.
Rahul’s remarks came after Opposition parties met on Wednesday to devise a strategy to corner the Centre on issues like the Pegasus snooping row, Farmers’ protest and Assam-Mizoram discord.
A total 14 parties attended the meeting which included the Congress, DMK, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Shiv Sena, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Samajwadi Party, CPI-M, CPI, National Conference (NC), AAP, IUML, RSP, KCM and the VCK, reports IANS.
The meeting was chaired by the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge.
“We do not want to compromise on the issues of inflation, Pegasus, and farmers’ issues. We want discussion in the House,” Gandhi said after the meeting, reports ANI.
During the meeting, Gandhi said the government is “defaming” the opposition by saying that “we are not allowing Parliament to function, while we are raising matters related to the citizens, farmers and security of the country”. All opposition leaders supported him.
Rahul Gandhi will move adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha on the Pegasus issue demanding a probe in the alleged snooping row. In the Rajya Sabha suspension notices have been served on the Pegasus scandal and Assam-Mizoram discord.
The two Houses of Parliament have been witnessing protests from the opposition since the start of the monsoon session on July 19.
