New Delhi, 16 June 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: After the Saudi government announced its decision recently to limit the upcoming Haj season to domestic pilgrims only, the Haj Committee of India on Tuesday announced that all the applications for the pilgrimage this year stand cancelled.

The Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah said on Saturday that it has decided to limit the availability of registration for those wishing to perform the annual pilgrimage this year to citizens and residents inside the country only. The decision was taken because of global Covid outbreaks and new virus mutations, according to Xinhua news agency.

In its circular, Haj Committee of India quoted the decision of Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah informing that it has decided to allow citizens and residents inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia only to attend Haj this year in limited numbers and international Haj has been cancelled due to coronavirus pandemic conditions.

“Hence it has been decided by the Haj Committee of India that all the applications for Haj-2021 stands cancelled,” the circular signed by Haj Committee of India’s Chief Executive Officer Maqsood Ahmed Khan read, reports PTI.

Last year also due to Coronavirus pandemic Muslims from India could not travel to Saudi Arabia for Haj pilgrimage as per the decision of Saudi government.
