New Delhi, 14 Feb 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: The Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has strongly condemned the Delhi government and Delhi Police for issuing notices to the farmers under section 160 CrPC. It is an attempt to implicate them in false cases, SKM said, urging farmers not to present themselves before the police. “They should immediately inform SKM leadership or its legal panel for further course of action,” the SKM leaders said at a press conference held at Singhu border on Saturday.

The leaders announced that SKM’s legal panel was actively pursuing bail applications of all the farmers detained in Delhi. Ten farmers have been granted bail so far and bail applications for five have been filed. Priority is being given to the farmers who are not booked under section 307 IPC or other serious offences.

On Friday, the legal panel visited Delhi’s Tihar Jail where 112 farmers are lodged. The panel, comprising Prem Singh Bhangu, Raminder Patiala, Kiranjeet Sekhon, Inderjeet Singh, Harpal Singh and Vikas ishar met Ranjit Singh of Kajampur village, District Nawanshahar, and Ranjit Singh of Moga district and enquired about their problems. Panel was told that all farmers in Jail are hale and hearty and have no problem.

The panel has decided to provide monetary help to each farmer in jail. Money will be deposited in their accounts by Monday, it was announced at the press conference. According to SKM leaders, 16 farmers are missing: 9 hailing from Haryana, 1 from Rajasthan and 6 from Punjab.

Also Saturday, the legal panel held talks with Raghav Chadda, Cabinet Minister in the Delhi government, and urged him to bring together all the farmers lodged in different jails. The minister was also urged to allow the legal panel access to farmers without any restrictions and disbursement of money sent by SKM to farmers. The minister, according to the panel, assured all help.
