1.2 kg of smuggled gold seized from two passengers at MIA

Mangaluru, 07 Jan 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: DRI sleuths at the Mangaluru International Airport have seized  1.2 kg of gold worth Rs 67 lakhs which was being smuggled from Dubai and have arrested two persons.

The two accused had arrived at the MIA by a Spice Jet flight from Dubai. One of the arrested passenger  had hid the gold in paste form inside a capsule in his rectum.  He had in his possession 641 grams of gold. In another case, a Kasargod resident was  apprehended while he was  smuggling gold weighing 646 grams hidden in a pocket in his  under garment.

Both were arrested by the officials after acting on a tip off.
