CAA protesters observe one day fast in solidarity with farmers

New Delhi, 31 Dec 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: A one day symbolic protest and fast was organised at Shanti Bagh, Gaya, Bihar, on the completion of one year of the start of the historic protest against CAA. The protest that started  on 29th December, 2019 against CAA continued in Shanti Bagh, Gaya for 84 days before it was suspended on account of humanitarian crisis created by Corona.

The protest was held in order to remind the government that the CAA has still not been repealed. People took a pledge that if the government  moves ahead with its plan to execute NRC and NPR or proceeds with implementation of CAA the resistance would resume from Shanti Bagh.

In light of the ongoing farmers protest people kept a one day fast and extended support to the protesting farmers.

The program was organised under the banner of Samvidhan Bachao Morcha under the aegis of which the CAA protest started last year. Mr. Omair Khan alias Tikka Khan is the convenor of Samvidhan Bachao Morcha.

On this occasion a memorandum in the name of Prime Minister was handed over to the District Magistrate.

On this occasion, a memorandum was also given to the first time MLA Mr. Satish Kumar, MLA of Makhdoompur, by Omair Khan over rising radicalization of Dalits. The memorandum had numerous measures for the newly appointed MLA to strengthen the unity between Muslim and Dalit community.

Mr. Satish Kumar is also the co-convenor of Samvidhan Bachao Morcha and actively took part in the Anti-CAA/NRC protests organised last year at Shanti Bagh, Gaya. Mr. Kumar has also been nominated to the standing committee for the welfare of SC and ST in the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
