Two Irani gang members arrested in looting case ; remanded to judicial custody

Bantwal, 12 Nov 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: Two persons who have been arrested  in connection with the case  of  robbing a person of gold after posing themselves  as Crime Branch cops at BC Road Kaikamba,   have been remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

The accused  are Zakir Hussain (26) and Kambar Rahim Mirza (32). Both are said to be members of the  notorious Irani gang.

The incident had taken place on January 18, 2020. The duo who had confronted Shivaprasad of Mittabailu spoke in Hindi and introduced themselves as Crime Branch police and had even produced a fake ID card. Later they robbed the person of the gold and cash he had and had escaped in a bike.

Udupi police had initially arrested the duo in connection with similar incidents in Kundapur and Udupi. The duo  during interrogation had revealed about the Bantwal incident following which they were entrusted to the custody of the Bantwal police. After interrogation they were produced before the court.
