Karwar: Tunnel repaired, Railway service resumes

Karwar, 17 Sep 2020 [Fik/News Sources]:  Konkan railway service has resumed as the railway tunnel repair work near Pernem in Goa has been completed.

Railway service had been suspended completely on this route after soil collapsed in the Konkan railway tunnel in Karwar region on August 6. Route of six trains were changed following the incident. The trains were running via Madgaon-Londa-Miraj-Pune-Panvel-Kalyan route.  

A Konkan railway spokesperson said, the tunnel is located between Madure and Pernem railway stations. The repair of the tunnel has been completed. Track safety certificate has been obtained on September 15, the officer said. 

After the repair of the tunnel, train service has resumed via Madgaon-Roha-Panvel-Kalyan route.
