In the merit list of UPSC’s first 100 successful candidates only one Muslim candidate has been figured. Safna Nazarudeen, who ranked 45, has secured the highest rank among 44 successful Muslim candidates. However, there are three shining and inspiring examples of success stories from the community. A Delhi Police constable Firoz Alam registered a remarkable success while Azharuddin Quazi, a son auto-rickshaw driver brought laurels to his parents and at the age of 23, Nadia Baig from Kashmir has become the youngest candidate to clear the civil services exams.
Azharuddin Quazi has successfully cracked the 2019 UPSC Exam securing 315th All India rank, who hails from a very backward District of Yavatmal, in Maharashtra? His father is an auto-rickshaw driver and non-matriculate while his mother is matriculate and a homemaker.
Qazi draws his inspiration from his early life, which has mostly been spent without money. Having been entirely supported by his parents, Qazi accredits his younger brother for his success, who started working earlier than him to help him achieve his goal.
Speaking with Muslim Mirror, Qazi said- “I’d always dreamt of getting into Civil services as I wanted to change the socio-economic conditions of my area, where farmer suicides are very common. I always wanted to bring about a change in the system where implementation of a few schemes was not up to the mark, but with this reputed post of mine, I pledge to work for the welfare of the society.”
Amidst all the chaos in the country, he urges the Muslim Youths to take utmost advantage of the opportunities that life provides them with.
“Financial insecurity is no excuse to give upon your dreams. If you’re passionate enough and consistent in your approach, all sorts of hurdles that may come in your way disappear”, he said.
On being asked about his Success Mantra, Qazi said- “Always set up plans for short terms. Studying on a daily or weekly basis gives you a sense of accomplishment and instils confidence inside you. This strategy has helped me out and will help others too”.
Before appearing for the Civil Services Exams, Azharuddin has done graduation in Commerce from Yavatmal and got selected as a Probationary Officer in Corporation Bank where he served for 6 years. But, his mother Meraj, despite being only Class 10 pass, focused on providing quality education to her children. Azhardudin has three siblings including one who has completed MBBS, second is Chemical Engineer and third a Lawyer.
Qazi has also been a National level player of Handball, also loves to play volleyball, cricket and watch Hollywood web series.
