U-K dist: Covid Recovery cases improving in district

Karwar, 27 July 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: The number of people recovering from Covid-19 has been increasing in Uttara Kannada district. On Sunday also, 90 people who recovered were discharged from various taluk hospitals.

A majority of the recoveries were seen in Haliyal and Dandeli taluks (44 people) followed by Kumta (18), Honnavar (13), Siddapur (4), Yellapur (4), Mundgod (3), Karwar (2) and Joida (2).

Until now, the district has seen 936 people recovering from Covid. While 716 are still under treatment, 16 have died.

85 fresh cases

As per the Health Department Bulletin, 85 more cases of Covid-19 were reported in the district on Sunday.

Even in terms of number of fresh Covid cases, it was Haliyal and Dandeli taluks which topped the list. As many as 26 persons contracted the Covid-19. In addition to this, 13 people each in Karwar and Kumta taluks, 11 in Bhatkal, nine in Sirsi, five in Ankola, four in Honnavar, three in Mundgod and one in Yellapur taluk have become Covid positive. As many as 85 Covid patients who are asymptomatic are being treated under home-isolation.

2 deaths

A 65-year-old Covid patient from Sirsi who had pneumonia fever died of heart attack at KIMS in Karwar on Sunday.

Another 81-year-old woman who was being treated at KIMS Hospital in Hubballi for some non-Covid health problem died on Saturday. However, her throat swab sample later tested positive for Covid-19.
