U-K dist: 64 Covid patients in home isolation

Karwar, 26 July 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: Another 162 cases of Covid-19 added to the case count of Uttara Kannada district on Saturday.

This included 55 from Bhatkal taluk, 45 from Haliyal & Dandeli taluks, 16 from Ankola, 12 from Karwar, 11 from Sirsi, eight from Honnavar, six from Mundgod, five from Kumta, two from Joida and one each from Siddapur and Yellapur taluks. Among the patients, there are three one-year-old children.

Home isolation

As many as 64 Covid patients in the district are being treated in home isolation. This includes 17 patients each in Bhatkal and Sirsi, nine in Yellapur, seven in Ankola, five each in Karwar and Kumta taluks and two each in Mundgod and Haliyal taluks.

Meanwhile, 88 people who recovered from Covid were discharged from various hospitals across the district on Saturday.

Presently, the Covid case count has touched 1,668 in the district with 744 cases being active.

Until now, 846 people have recovered and 14 have died.

Lab fumigation

The laboratory of KIMS in Karwar will be closed for one-and-half days for fumigation. There are no pending swab samples in the district which have to be tested for Covid. The number of cases were increasing as Rapid Antigen Tests had been stepped up, informed DC Harishkumar.

Covid patient delivers baby

A pregnant woman from Devalmakki in Karwar taluk who was infected with Covid-19 delivered a baby through C-section on Saturday. The woman was admitted to the Covid ward in KIMS in Karwar and went into labour. A team of doctors from KIMS successfully conducted the surgery. According to KIMS Director Gajanan Director, both the mother and the child are doing fine.
