10-day lockdown begins in Dharwad district

Bengaluru, 15 July 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: The district administration on Tuesday announced guidelines for the 10-day lockdown in Dharwad district, which will be in force from 10:00 am on Wednesday (July 14) to 8:00 pm on July 24.

Announcing several restrictions and relaxations that will be in enforce during the lockdown, Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil said, the main purpose of enforcing another lockdown is to contain the surge of Covid-19 cases in the district, and sought co-operation from the general public in the administration’s efforts.

To ensure that the daily life of the people is not affected, several relaxations have also been offered, and they should not be misused, he said.

The administration has allowed farming, industry, construction, road works, sale of essential commodities, medicines, dairy, vegetables, fruits, bakeries, and groceries to operate in the district.

It has also allowed movement of those engaged in essential services, emergency health care, media, sanitation, and transport of essential goods during the lockdown. The essential services (excluding medical) will be allowed to open from 5:00 am to 12:00 noon on all the days (except on July 19-Sunday). The DC clarified that there will be complete lockdown on July 19 (Sunday).

Take away of food items and refreshments from hotels, restaurants, and other small eateries will be allowed.

Nitesh said, schools, colleges, coaching centres, all types of liquor shops, bar & restaurants, gyms, sports complexes, religious ceremonies, conferences, seminars, rallies, marriages, and public transport will be shut.

He said, there will be a ban on the arrival of the people from other districts into Dharwad district. The vehicles from other districts passing through Dharwad will be permitted, but they will not be allowed to either drop or take passengers from the district.

Those from Dharwad district required to visit other districts will be permitted to go, but they cannot come back till the lockdown is over. In case of people requiring to visit the district from other districts for emergency, they will have to apply through Sevasundhu app, he said.

Those who have already booked their tickets for train or Air travel to visit the district before the announcement of the lockdown will be permitted to arrive, but one can’t visit the district during lockdown by taxis or private vehicles, except in cases of
emergency.
