Karnataka issues new quarantine norms for people arriving in state

Bengaluru, 28 June 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: Karnataka has issued new quarantine norms for people arriving in the state from different states. People arriving in the state from Maharashtra will be quarantined for 7 days at institutional centres and for another 7 days, they will be home quarantined. People from other states will be sent to 14 days home quarantine.

This comes at the time when Karnataka is witnessing a surge in Coronavirus cases. On Saturday the state reported a single-day high of 918 new coronavirus cases taking the overall tally in the state to 11,923, the Health department said. Eleven deaths took the COVID-19 toll in the state to 191, it further said.

Earlier institutional quarantine was also mandatory for those coming to Karnataka from New Delhi and Tamil Nadu.

Karnataka Government issues an order, directing private hospitals not to deny treatment to patients with COVID-19 and COVID-19 like symptoms."Non-compliance of this order will attract punishment under sections of Disaster Management Act 2005," the order reads.

All Government offices shall remain closed on all Saturdays in the state with effect from July 10 in wake of coronavirus, according to Karnataka Chief Minister’s Office.

Karnataka has registered a record 918 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, with 596 alone being recorded in Bengaluru, raising the state’s tally to 11,923, said an official on Saturday.
