Mangaluru, 02 June 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: The Talapady border, on Karnataka-Kerala border, is yet to be opened for traffic. Only those, who have registered on ‘Seva Sindhu’ portal, are given one-time permission to enter the district. With the relaxation of the lockdown, many were anticipating free movement of traffic between Karnataka and Kerala. However, both the states have not given permission for free movement of vehicles, sources told DH.

Hundreds of people from bordering villages of Kerala arrive in Mangaluru for work. Many from bordering villages of Mangaluru too work in Kasargod district.

Hoping that they will be allowed to travel, many had gathered on either side of the check post on Monday morning.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh said, “Only those who have registered in Seva Sindhu portal are given one-time permission to enter Karnataka. After returning, they have to be in quarantine for 14 days.”
