Bengaluru, 21 May 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: KSRTC officials have clarified that there has been no hike in bus ticket fare contrary to the allegations that are doing the rounds on social media.
KSRTC bus services have resumed in the state during the fourth phase of the lockdown. Travellers have complained that the ticket fare prices have been hiked after the resumption of bus services.
A photo of a bus ticket costing Rs 61 for travel between Mangaluru to Puttur has gone viral on social media. The fare was around Rs 42 before the lockdown.
KSRTC officials in their justification said that while ticket fares have not been hiked, passengers are being charged as per express bus rates at the moment. Th e express bus rates are being charged due to the reduced passenger capacity as well as the fewer stops during the journey, said Srisha Bhatt, manager of KSRTC BC Road Depot.
