New Delhi, 24 Feb 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: Popular Front of India National General Assembly held at Malabar House, Puthanathani, Malappuram in Kerala elected its national functionaries for the term 2020 – 2022.

O.M.A. Salam is the new Chairman and Anis Ahmed the new General Secretary.

Following are the other newly elected functionaries and the National Executive Committee members:

E.M. Abdul Rahiman (Vice Chairman), Asfar Pasha (Secretary), VP Nasrudheen (Secretary), K.M Shareef (Treasurer) E Abubacker (NEC Member), P. Koya (NEC Member) Mohammed Ali Jinnah (NEC Member), Abdul Wahid Sait (NEC Member), A.S. Ismail (NEC Member), and Adv. A Mohammed Yusuff (NEC Member)

The three-day-long National General Assembly (NGA) began on 21/02/2020 with the flag hoisting by OMA Salam. NGA is the annual meeting attended by delegates from across the country which involves the stock taking of the organizations past year activities and planning for the coming years.

OMA Salam in his presidential address said that Hindutva Rashtra which takes care of only the affluent classes and corporate at the cost of the rest of the Indian citizens has already become a reality. The total assets of the 64 corporates in the country is worth 28 lakh crores whereas the national budget of the 130 crore Indians is only 24 lakh crores, less than their total assets, he said. The only step remaining for the completion of Hindutwa Rashtra construction is the official replacement of the constitution that has already been undermined. By blatantly abusing the power the RSS led central government has destructed all constitutional institutions and secular and democratic mechanisms; and has turned India into a communal and totalitarian state.

He added that what we have been telling for the past 3 decades has become true. Those who underestimated our warnings about RSS ideology are now compelled to bring people to streets in agitations for citizenship right. We should not be overwhelmed when getting support or get depressed while sidelined by groups with vested-interests.
The past three years have been turbulent for the nation, its people and also for our movement. A move that fights against divisive and communal fascist forces and their government and for the empowerment of all citizens irrespective of diversities and differences has to expect a major share of those challenges as well, he said.

General Secretary M Muhammed Ali Jinnah presented the annual report. The report revealed that the organization has steadily increased its acceptance among the people and left larger footprints, especially in the northern parts of India. At the same time the report pointed out that efforts are also being made by the government and its agencies for witch-hunting the organization and tarnishing its image. The house expressed satisfaction over the progress the organization has made in community development activities as is evident from the report presented. Director Afsar Pasha welcomed the gathering.
