Jaleel- a Mangaluru resident who was outside his home lost his life to a bullet fired that hit his left eye, Indiatoday reports.
He was returning after dropping his children back home after the school bus had left them midway amid the intense protests in Mangaluru.
The deceased a daily wage earner was 42 living in Mangaluru’s Bunder area in Karnataka’s is survived by his wife and two children Shifani, 14, and Sabil, 10.
Narrating the tragedy, the inconsoloble family stated he was shot by the police personnel when he reached home with his kids.
He was declared brought dead by the doctors.
In an interview with India Today TV, Jaleel’s daughter said the police killed her father.
“They killed my father in front of me,” said the grief-stricken teenager unable to speak any further.
The victim’s family said Jaleel was not even part of the ongoing protests over the Citizenship Amendment Act that turned violent in Mangaluru on December 19.
One of the family member’s said the claims of Police regarding the mob of 7,000 to 9,000 were false and untrue since there were only 50 to 100 people that were protesting.
