New Delhi, 15 July 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: In another shameful mob lynching incident in the country, a Muslim police head constable was killed in Rajasthan. Head constable Abdul Gani, 48, a resident of Kunwariya, was probing a land dispute and had gone to the site when a mob attacked him after an argument over encroachment. The policeman was seriously injured in the attack.
He was rushed to a hospital in Bhim area where he succumbed to injuries, the officer said.
Post-mortem will be conducted on Sunday, he said, adding that efforts were being made to identify those involved.
Bike-borne Abdul Gani was returning from Hamela ki Ber village after investigating a case when when four to five unidentified persons attacked him with sticks, said a police official.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajesh Gupta told ANI that as per initial probe, Gani Mohammad received severe head injuries on his head that ultimately led to his death.
The prima facie it appears that unknown miscreants beat him up while he was investigating a case, he received a severe injury on his head that led to his death. No arrest has taken place yet in the case and probe in the matter is underway,” Gupta said
The police are trying to establish the identity of the attackers by analysing the footage from the CCTV cameras in the area.
