New Delhi, 14 July 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: “No doubt, unity among the ranks of Muslims is a prerequisite in the present precarious atmosphere and Jamaat will strive for it but there is need to forge unity between Muslims and other oppressed classes as well as among all the Indian citizens” said Hind Syed Sadatullah Hussaini , the newly elected President of Jamaat-e-Islami  while addressing a press conference on Saturday.

Without unity and harmony among the various sections of the society, India cannot move forward on the path of progress and development” he cautioned.

Unveiling the new Policy Programme of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind at the Press Club of India today, the JIH President said: ‘There is an urgent need to dispel the misconceptions around Islam. For example, people should know that Islam is the antithesis of terror, it means peace and a faith that came to bring an end to terror. So, one of the major initiatives that JIH would be undertaking as part of implementing its new Policy-Programme for 2019-23, is to start a process of dialogue between various groups at all levels – among intellectuals, students, youth, religious leaders and the general public so that people come close to each other and there is an exchange of ideas providing an opportunity to remove common misunderstanding. This is the need of the hour as there are some forces who are trying to destroy our unity and spread communal hatred”. When asked about what he thought about uniting Muslims of all factions and denominations, the JIH President said: “unity of Muslims is required and we will strive for it but there should also be unity amongst Muslims and other oppressed classes and also among all Indians. We must remain united if we wish to achieve progress and development”.

Earlier, briefing the media about the new Policy-Programme, Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Muhammad Salim Engineer said:“By implementing the new Policy-Programme, the Jamaat would focus on Indian society, seeking to rebuild it on healthy basis. Universal values would be protected and attempts will be made to dispel the atmosphere of distrust and conflict. JIH would also promote youth, children and women by channelizing their energies to sustain its programs and activities. Healthy reform in the Muslim community along with their safety and security would also be high on our priority list. Establishing peace and justice in the country along with serving people and caring for their education is also an important part of our program. The training of our cadre and organizational growth would also receive due attention. Spreading the message of Islam and removing misunderstanding about Islam and Muslims is the need of the hour”
