Kundapur, 08 July 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: A youth aged was washed away into the sea by the strong waves at the beach adjacent to Maraswamy Temple at Maravanthe on Sunday afternoon July 7.
The deceased is identified as Chetan Shetty (32), son of Vittal Shetty from Chittur near Marnakatte in the taluk.
A few tourists who were at the beach during the incident have captured video of Chetan getting dragged away by waves. The video depicts the victim getting washed away within moments. The police were immediately alerted of the incident and Gangolli police and firemen rushed to the spot and eventually recovered the corpse of the victim.
A slip of paper found in Chetan’s pocket had three cell phone numbers written on it with a request, ‘please contact me’ based on which the cops were able to contact the family of the deceased, informs the police.
