New Delhi, 02 June 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Bajrang Dal, the youth wing of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, is allegedly conducting weapons training inside a local school.

Notably, the education institute in question, Seven Eleven Academy in Bhayander East, is owned by BJP leader and MLA, Mira – Bhayandar, Narendra Mehta.

According to The Indian Express reports, police are investigating the issue following a complaint from an NGO, Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI).

The issue came to light after the NGO approached the Navghar police in Bhayander on Thursday after noticing the images of the camp widely posted by a local Bajrang Dal functionary named Prashant Gupta on his Facebook page.

Gupta, the local karyakarta allegedly shared pictures from the camp showing young students were given weapons training stating that it is being held from May 25 to June 1.

Advocate Sanjay Panday, secretary of the DYFI called it is an offence under the Arms Act. Panday alleged that initially, the police refused to take a complaint but later accepted the application that stated their concerns.

“The police refused to entertain our request and we left after submitting an application. On Friday, we met Sub Divisional Police Officer Atul Kulkarni and discussed the matter with him. He assured us that necessary action would be taken,” he said, as per The Hindu reports.

Gupta, who took down all the posts related to the training, has now posted a threatening message on his FB account.

Kulkarni said inquiries had been initiated into the matter adding no FIR had been filed as yet.

There have been multiple instances in the past where Bajrang Dal was in the news for holding weapons training camps.
