Sagar/Udupi, 02 May 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: The chain of lives claimed by the deadly monkey fever or Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD) has further grown. A person lost his life to the disease within Aralagodu Primary Health Centre in the Taluk on Wednesday morning May 1st.
The deceased man is identified as Kariyappa (50) from Nandodi who breatherd his last at KMC hospital in Manipal. The patient got admitted to the hospital on Apr 27th and it was determined that he was infected by KFD. Although he was being provided with proper medication, he failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed. Around 21 people have lost their lives to monkey fever from Aralagodu Gram Panchayat since December.
It has been confirmed that Subbamma Shedti from Harimane near Talaguppa, who had died on Monday at Manipal hospital was infected with KFD virus. Her blood test came positive for the virus, informed Dr Munivenkataraju.
