More preference to job creation, drought relief: Governor Vajubhai Vala in his Republic Day speech

Bengaluru, 26 Jan 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: "In a bid to provide quality education, the state government will begin 176 schools and primary, high school and pre university colleges will be integrated," said Governor Vajubhai Vala.

Mr. Vala was delivering his republic Day speech during the 70th Republic Day celebration at Manekshaw Parade Grounds here on Saturday. At the beginning of the programme, a special helicopter showered rose petals on the Governor and Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy. Later Mr. Vala went on a parade in an open jeep to receive the honours from different contingents.

Emphasising on education and youth programmes, Mr. Vala said, "the state government will hold  25 days special remedial classes for students to learn English, Mathematics and Science across 549 centers in the state."

Recalling the dsastrous Kodagu floods, he said, "the state was confronted with floods and landslides in Kodagu, parts of Malnadu and coastal districts during August 2018. They had caused severe damage and losses to public and private infrastructure."
