A.J. Hospital to launch coastal region's first obesity clinic

Mangaluru, 17 Jan 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: The A.J. Hospital and Research Centre, which has been providing hi-tech healthcare service to the people, is going to establish the first obesity clinic in the coastal region.

Obesity, which has become a major health problem nowadays, has been causing socio-economic burden on the society. This problem is causing diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problem, joint pains and cancer.

Through Gastroenterology department, the hospital will open its Obesity Clinic on January 19. This centre would help those who have obesity problem transform their bodies and allow them to lead a happy life like others.

Bariatric surgeons Dr Rohan Shetty and Dr Ashwin Alva, gastroenterologists Dr B .Shivaprasad, Dr Raghavendra Prasad, Endocrinologist Dr. Ganesh HK, Diet expert, Psychologist, Physiotherapist and other experts would assist the patients in the clinic. This team would evaluate the patients and provide healthcare service and surgery.

The A.J. Hospital is a frontrunner in responding to the needs of the people in healthcare sector in the region. With the beginning of Obesity Clinic, the hospital has another feather in its crown, said hospital medical director and organ transplant surgeon Dr Prashanth Marla in a press statement.
