Mangaluru, 16 Jan 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Representatives of two companies visited the Mangalore International Airport (MIA), on Monday, to conduct an assessment study based on the decision of the Union Government to privatize six airports namely Mangalore, Guwahati, Thiruvanthapuram, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Jaipur.
However they were forced to leave without conducting the study as they faced stiff opposition from the employees of MIA.
The representatives of G.M.R. Airport Private Ltd. and National Investment and Infrastructure Fund had managed to conduct a discussion with MIA Director V.V.Rao. “As they were prevented from entering the operational area by the MIA employees they left”, he said.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, on Tuesday pointed out that the decision to privatize the airport was taken during the UPA Government rule though they are blaming the Modi-led Union Government for the same now.
