Residents evacuated after tanker carrying LPG turns turtle in Uppinangady

Uppinangady, 02 Dec 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Few residents of Bedrodi near Uppinangady were evacuated from their homes by Fire brigade officials, after a tanker carrying LPG met with an accident and turned turtle, causing gas leakage.

The incident occurred near Bedrodi hanging bridge in Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway in Uppinangady. 

The Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) container was carrying LPG, and was headed from Mangaluru to Bengaluru when incident occurred, around 1.30 am on Sunday morning.

As a result, the gas is leaking from the tanker and as a precautionary measure, the residents were warned against lighting the fire. The entire road from Periyashanti towards old gate road was blocked for vehicles throughout the operation, as a preventive measure.
