Vijayapura: Man lynched to death while attending funeral of his wife

Vijayapura, 27 Nov 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: A man was reportedly lynched by his relatives when he attended the funeral of his wife who committed suicide after setting herself ablaze at Khilarahatti in the taluk on Monday.

Kajol Tambe (20) committed suicide by setting herself ablaze and her husband Raju Tambe (23) was reportedly killed by the relatives. After her suicide, the body of Kajol was brought to Khilarahatti for cremation. Her husband Raju Tambe also attended her funeral. But Kajol parents and relatives assaulted him to death, it is said.

Raju and Kajol got married two years ago and for the last one year, they have family disputes. But the elders compromised them and allowed them to live together, it is said.

On November 25, she poured kerosene on her and set herself ablaze and committed suicide. But her parents and relatives have lynched Raju alleging that he has killed Kajol. Sanjay, brother of Raju, was also attacked during the incident. He was admitted to district hospital and his condition is said to be critical.

Amidst the murder of Raju, Kajol was cremated in a hurry. But the accused in the murder of Raju were absconding. Babaleshwara police who registered a case have started investigation.
