Delhi Waqf Board Advocate seeks demolition of Madina Masjid, a property worth 3k crore

New Delhi, 17 Nov 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: In a shocking betrayal to the Muslim trust, none other than the custodian of Muslim Waqf properties specially the mosques in Delhi, advocate Wajeeh Shafiq of Delhi Waqf Board  pleaded before  the honorable Delhi High court to demolish the ancient Madina Masjid bearing  Khasra No 484 situated  on   Mathura Road  near Delhi Public School in the heart of national capital . The deceitful plea of  Wajeeh Shafee seeking the demolition of the said Masjid on grounds of its face lift without the Board’s permission astonished even the honorable chief justice Mr.Rajendra Menon who was hearing the case along with his colleague Justice Kameshwar Rao at around 11:30 a.m. today on 15 Thursday .

The value of the land attached to the mosque is  estimated at around Rs 3,000 crore rupees.

A wave of anger is being seen among the Muslims of Delhi specially those who have been praying and contributing for the development of Madina Masjid for decades.

Unverified reports of the lawyer’s alleged involvement in corruption has surfaced since this incident. It’s been reported that L&DO  (Land and Development Office ) Govt of India has already encroached and occupied 2.5 acre of the frontal graveyard land of Madina Masjid with the connivance of Delhi Waqf Board and the same lawyer is said to have been involved in the betrayal. The current chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board Mr.Amanatullah Khan was not available for a comment.

When Muslim Mirror asked Adv Wajeeh why he sought the demolition of the Masjid he said that ‘some Tufail Khan claimed in the court that the Masjid and its campus belongs to his family ‘, but he refused to share any documents against Tufail Khans claim.

‘How can a Masjid become a personal property ? This Masjid is 500 years old.I am just managing its affairs from last 30 years. I have given this in written to court several times, told Tufail to Muslim Mirror .

The value of the 32 Bigha land including  Madina  is situated on  the prime location of New Delhi  is estimated at around Rs 3,000 crore.
