Mangaluru, 15 Nov 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Shiradi Ghat section of NH 75 will be open even for heavy vehicles on Thursday morning.
Following the massive landslides in August, the district administration had prohibited movement of all types of vehicles in the ghat section.
As basic repair work was undertaken and arrangements were made for movement of vehicles, the deputy commissioner issued an order on September 5, allowing light vehicles to take this route and and passenger vehicles from October 3. Though this decision solved the connectivity problem to a great extent, the ban on movement of heavy vehicles continued.
With authorities of national highway taking all the necessary measures and precautionary steps along the stretch, the deputy commissioner issued an order allowing even the heavy vehicles to take this route it from Thursday morning.
The authorities concerned submitted a report to the deputy commissioner stating that precautionary measures like barrier wall, safety tapes, humps cateye and sign boards have been in the stretch as a precautionary measure to facilitate two-way movement of vehicles.
Taking into consideration contents of the report, deputy commissioner Sasikanth Senthil issued an order on Wednesday allowing all types of vehicles in the Ghat section from Thursday.
