Bengaluru, 13 Nov 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: In a heart-rending incident which came to light on Monday November 12, a woman fed poisonous tablets to her three-year-old daughter and parents before committing suicide. She also left behind a death note. The deaths came to light after two days.
Apparently the woman took this extreme step, having been overwhelmed by the fact that a person to whom she had handed over an amount of Rs 25 lac for acquiring a house had died in an a recent accident. She was almost certain that the money she gave to the person will not return. She was overtaken by the feeling that the house she was trying to acquire will never be hers, it is said. The four persons who lost their lives in this incident are Sudharani (29), her daughter, Sonica (3), parents, Janardhan (55) and Sumitra (45).
The police said that the death note does not contain name and address of the person to whom she had given the money. Vidyaranyapura police, who have registered the case, have begun investigation from various angles. They also have questioned Arjun, husband of Sudharni, to put together loose links.
The bodies have been kept in M S Ramaiah Hospital here. A senior police officer said that the postmortem report is expected to throw light on the real cause of their deaths.
Sudharani had married Arjun from Mathikere four years back. The couple had a daughter named Sonica. Arjun had a medical shop at Mathikere which was operated by Sudharani.
Sudharani arrived at the residence of her parents on Saturday afternoon along with her daughter. After that, the door of that house had remained locked for two days. At around 2.30 pm on Monday, owner of the house noticed foul smell emanating from the house. He knocked at the door but there was no response. Growing suspicious, he called Sudharani's husband who came there and found her wife, daughter, and parents-in-law dead, the police stated.
The police on arrival found that Janardhan and Sumitra had died on their bed when sleeping while Sudharani and Sonica were together. The police are yet to verify the handwriting to make sure that Sudharani had written it. They also pin hopes on the postmortem report. Their investigation will get further impetus if they are able to find out the person to whom the said amount was given.
