Mangaluru, 30 Oct 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said that the district administration has come out with a proposal to develop Mangaluru city as ‘water-friendly city’ under the Smart City Project.
Addressing the corporators here on Monday, the DC said that there were plenty of opportunities to develop Mangaluru city as ‘water-friendly city’ on the lines of Mumbai and Cochin. In 8 wards in the old Mangaluru area, it was planned to introduce around 65 different schemes. The Central Government had approved the Mangaluru Water-Friendly Smart City Project in 2016 and the implementation process of the project was started from April 2017, he said.
Cutting across the party line, corporators alleged that they were kept in darkness without giving proper information about the Smart City Project. Responding to it, the DC said that he has directed the authorities to open a website to provide all information related to the Smart City Project.
Mayor Bhaskar K. presided over the meeting, in which deputy mayor Muhammad K. and Commissioner Muhammad Nazeer were present.
