Bengaluru, 29 Sep 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Naseer Ahmed and M.C. Venugopal from the Congress and Ramesh Gowda from the JDS on Thursday elected unopposed to the Legislative Council from the Legislative Assembly.
Election officer Kumaraswamy announced the result at his office at Vidhana Soudha here and gave away the certificates to the new members. Later, he said that Thursday was the last day for withdrawing the nomination papers. But out of the three persons who were in the fray, none has withdrawn the nomination papers. As a result, all the three were announced elected unopposed to the Legislative Council. As the nomination papers of independent candidates Venkateswara Swamy and Harishchandra Gowda were not proper, they were rejected. Newly elected Naseer Ahmed and M.C. Venugopal would continue as the MLCs up to June 30, 2020 and the term of Ramesh Gowda would end on June 14, 2022, Kumaraswamy said.
