Aadhaar card corrections facility at every GP office from August

Mangaluru, 12 July 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: From August this year, the people of Dakshina Kannada can get corrections to their Aadhaar cards at the nearest Gram Panchayat (GP) office. Yes, the latest changes will provide better service to people from rural areas who had to travel far to get these changes done.
Until now, Aadhaar corrections could be done online or by visiting Karnataka One centres, some earmarked post offices, the office of district commissioner and so on. As these centres were far away, mostly in the cities, rural population faced problems to get their details corrected on the Aadhaar identity card. Moreover, the lack of internet connectivity and low cyber literacy are also hindrances for the people in rural areas.
It is gathered that the groundwork for starting Aadhaar services in the GPs has already started. Data entry operators at the GP have been provided with the first round of training by the district administration to make changes to Aadhaar details. In every gram panchayat, a computer will also be dedicated for enabling Aadhaar corrections.
District Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar said that the new service would be available at all gram panchayats in the district from August this year. People who wish to get the corrections made have to provide documentary proof and get it approved by the Panchayat Development Officer or the secretary, he said.
