Mysuru Bengaluru road to be made 10 lane highway

Bengaluru, 11 July 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna informed the Legislative Council that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared to make the Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway a ten lane highway.
Replying to Mr Sandesh Nagaraj of JD(S) on Tuesday, he said the works would be divided into two packages. While six lanes would be dedicated to non-stop movement of vehicles, two roads on each side of the highway would be service roads. The cost of package one of the project would be Rs 3,501 crore and already, the Union Surface Transport Ministry had given clearance for the work between Nidaghatta and Bengaluru and Nidaghatta-Mysuru which is being taken up at a cost of Rs 2,911 crore.

Sixty three per cent of land required for the proposed ten-lane road has been acquired and the rest would be acquired soon. He said a high-powered committee headed by the chief secretary was reviewing the progress once in a month. The first stage of work is expected to be completed in one and a half years.
