Bengaluru, 17 Jun 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The Education Department has decided to appoint around 25,600 guest teachers to overcome the scarcity of primary and high school teachers arising due to the vacant posts. The government released a circular to appoint 12,500 primary and 10,000 secondaries and 3,100 guest teachers to the high schools.

A notification for direct appointments to fill the vacant 10,000 graduate teachers’ posts in secondary schools has been issued already. However, it will take around 5-6months to complete the entire process and for the teachers to attend duty. Since students should not be inconvenienced in the interim period, guest teachers will be appointed to these posts. Once the permanent teachers attend duty, the appointment of guest teachers will be canceled, an official said.

The guest teachers will be appointed on the basis of scheduled education qualification and merit. The responsibility of appointing guest teachers to primary and high schools will be performed with the help of respective school headteacher. The monthly honorarium is fixed between Rs.7,500 and Rs.8,000.
