Bengaluru, 14 Jun 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: While it was being suspected that the Parashuram Waghmare (26), the person who reportedly pulled the trigger at journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh, had links with several Hindutva outfits, including Sri Ram Sene.
A photo of him along with Sene chief Pramod Muthalik is doing rounds on the internet. It was taken a few years ago and has gone viral on social media platforms, with many hinting at Waghmare’s close ties with Muthalik.
However, Muthalik has denied that Waghmare was associated with his outfit and claimed he did not know him.
Muthalik said that since he was known as a person working to safeguard the Hindu religion and culture, many people take photograph with him and Waghmare could be one among them. Just because he took a photo with me doesn't mean I know him or he has an association with the Sene, he added.
Pak flag controversy
Waghmare was arrested in 2012 in Sindagi for hoisting Pakistan’s national flag outside Tahsildar’s office to create communal tension. He allegedly was associated with Sri Ram Sene. However Muthalik maintained that Waghmare was never a member of his outfit.
