Delhi Minority Commission issues notice to pro-RSS Sudarshan TV for its communal reporting

New Delhi, 31 May 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Delhi Minorities Commission (DMC) has issued a notice to Sudarshan TV over a report it telecast about residents of Bawana in north Delhi. The pro-RSS channel,  known for its communal ‘vituperative’ against Muslim and Christian communities, and Jammu and Kashmir people    had aired a programme on 11 May which dubbed Bawana residents as “Bangladeshis” and “Rohingyas” although these Indian citizens have been officially settled here by government agencies after relocating then from various Delhi areas over the decades.

DMC has ordered the managing director of the channel to reply by 12 June with proofs to show that Bawana residents are “Bangladeshis” and “Rohingyas”. Failing this, the channel has been ordered to tender an unconditional written apology and inform the Commission what action it has taken against the reporters and staff who prepared and aired the fake report which “spread disaffection against a section of Indian citizens and could have instigated a riot”. DMC also ordered the channel to air the apology and deposit an undertaking with DMC that it will not air such divisive reports in future. DMC has said in its notice that should the channel fail to positively reply to the notice, “appropriate action will be taken by DMC against this channel.”

The Commission has also issued a notice to DCP North District to file a report about the action taken against the said broadcast, especially against one Ganga Ram who is allegedly behind spreading rumours that residents of the area are “Bangladeshis” and “Rohingyas”.
