Bengaluru, 24 May 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: In a gruesome incident, a man was lynched to death in broad daylight in the state capital by an angry mob on Wednesday, May 23.
Reportedly, the victim Kalu Ram, a native of Rajasthan was spotted talking and offering chocolates to children by few locals near Vinayak Talkies in Chamrajpet. The scene soon turned ugly when the locals, suspecting him to be a child trafficker, decided to take him to task and brutally assaulted him.
A video of the incident that has now emerged shows Kalu Ram being tied and dragged on the road by few persons while others continue to assault him with cricket bats, iron rods etc.
A bystander witnessing the brutality intimated the police control room whereafter the nearest Hoysala vehicle was rushed to the spot. A profusely bleeding Kalu Ram was immediately taken to the Victoria hospital in an ambulance. He however succumbed to his wounds on the way.
As per the police Kalu Ram was a daily wage worker and had come to Bengaluru for a livelihood. It has also not been established if the victim was into child trafficking.
Chamarajpet Police have registered a case of murder against unknown persons under sections 302 (murder), 325 (grievously causing hurt with deadly weapon) 141 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting) and 34 (common intention).
