Agra, 31 Mar 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Nazia Khan, the 18 years old girl from Agra  who has received several national and state awards for her bravery and social work, has been designated as a ‘Special Police Officer’ of Agra Police by the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Director General of Police, OP Singh.

Earlier this year Khan was awarded a national bravery award, as she decided to take active measures to thwart a network of drugs and gambling rackets, that had reached its decadence in Agra. She filed numerous police complaints against the crime ring, although they went unheard and she also started receiving threats.

Unfazed by the threats, Khan tweeted to then Chief Minister of UP, Akhilesh Yadav, about the rackets, following which rigorous police interventions saw drugs and gambling network eradicated from various localities in Agra.

Khan, who was also instrumental in stifling a kidnapping attempt of a six-year-old was awarded the prestigious Bharat Award in the National Bravery Awards ceremony in New Delhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Republic Day.

On the eve of Republic Day Nazia received her Bravery Award in Delhi where she met the PM. She says, “I was seated right in front of him and noticed him smiling at me. While receiving the award, I talked to him when he jokingly called me ‘ladaku’. He also met my mother and asked her if I quarrelled with her as well.”

Nazia also participated in the Republic Day Parade with 17 other awardees.  “It was an experience of a lifetime to participate in the Republic Day Parade. Every year, I used to watch the parade on television and always dreamt of participating in it. So being there was a dream come true.”  she said to media.
