Mangaluru International Airport tops country in cleanliness survey

Mangaluru, 31 Mar 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: In a survey that was conducted across the nation as part of the 'Swachh Bharath Abhiyan' to find out the cleanest airport in the small airports category, Mangaluru International Airport was adjudged the cleanest airport. The survey was conducted across India in 53 airports in small airports category.

An official confirmation in this regard is relayed by Airport Authority of India (AAI) to the Mangaluru International Airport. V V Rao, director of Mangaluru International Airport Authority, will receive the award in this regard on April 1 in New Delhi on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary celebration of the Airport Authority of India.

Officials of the Airport Authority of India had visited the Mangaluru International Airport a month ago and verified the cleanliness at the airport terminal, parking area, toilets, commercial shops, customer lounge and road connectivity and given grades accordingly. Mangaluru International Airport secured the highest points in this survey and stood first in the country. The second place is bagged by Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.

It may be recalled that Mangaluru International Airport had secured a place in the official 'Customer Satisfaction Survey', that was conducted by the AAI for government airports in the country. In that survey also Mangaluru International Airport was placed high in terms of cleanliness by the passengers.

The responsiblity of the cleanliness of Mangaluru International Airport is handled by Durga Facility Management company. This company is handling the cleanliness of the airport for the past seven years. Every year more than 17.5 lac passengers pass through Mangaluru International Airport. More than 50 aircrafts land and take off from this airport every day.
