Srinagar, 25 Mar 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: In a very unprecedented turn of events, the son of newly-elected chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat -Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai- joined the militant ranks. Junaid Ashraf, 28, reportedly joined Hizbul Mujahideen and pictures of him brandishing an AK-47 rifle could be seen on various social media sites on Saturday.
Junaid, an MBA from Kashmir University, had left for Friday prayers but did not return home which led his family to approach the Police Station and lodge a missing report. Hours later Junaid’s picture on the social media wielding gun put the speculations about his disappearance to rest.
Junaid’s father Ashraf Sehrai, a week earlier, got elevated to the highest position in Tehreek-e-Hurriyat succeeding separatist hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
A top cop in the state’s Police department confirmed to MuslimMirror that Sehrai filed a missing complaint at Saddar police station.
Meanhile, Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, SP Vaid has urged the parents of Junaid to make an appeal to his son to return back.
After taking over as TeH chief, Sehrai had openly criticized those people who support the global jihadist organizations including ISIS and Al Qaeda, terming them irrelevant in Kashmir.
