Mangaluru, 25 Mar 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The Third District and Sessions Court, on March 24, acquitted three persons who were charged with the murder of Bajrang Dal activist Rajesh Poojary, due to lack of evidence in the case.
The acquitted are Irshad(23), Imran(21) and Hussain (23). All the three are residents of Malur in Bantwal Taluk.
It may be recalled that Rajesh Poojary, an auto driver by profession and an activist of Bajrang Dal, was hacked to death by bike borne assailants at Benjanpadavu in Bantwal on 21 March 2014.
DYFI and other organisations had protested alleging shoddy investigation by the police department into the murder. The police had arrested Irshad, Imran and Hussain, 10 days after the murder. Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) had agitated for their release claiming the arrested youth were innocent.
Advocate Shashiraj Kavoor represented the accused before the court.
